It's Fedex Cup Playoff season on the PGA Tour and this year, it's the top 70 in the Fedex Cup Points that will battle for an eventual $25 million dollar payout at the Tour Championship. This week, the playoffs will begin in Memphis, Tn. with the Fedex St. Jude Championship.
Well, I'm back everyone and glad to be. It's been quite a year or so in the professional game hasn't it? To say that seems very understated, so let's go. The PGA Tour, riding a wave of popularity, and growth, was shocked by the creation of a competitive tour known as LIV Golf. Created by Greg Norman and Phil Mickelson (essentially in theory), it took the golf world by storm with a team and individual concept, 54 hole events, with a shotgun start, limited fields, and loud music. "Golf But Louder" their catchphrase, this upstart has turned the game upside down. Add in the unprecedented signing bonuses offered to its most high profile players, and the entire landscape of the professional game has been altered forever.
But fast forward to the last few weeks and there was more shock and awe in store for everyone with the shocking announcement that the PIF (Private Investment Fund) had signed a "Framework Agreement" with the PGA Tour to end all litigation between the parties and to negotiate a partnership under the name of NewCo.
